The Hunting Museum (Jachtmuseum)
The theme of the hunting museum is ‘ castle in operation ‘. In it, three stories are told simultaneously.
Theme: The history of the castle
It offers a glimpse into the life of medieval life in the castle. From screams from the dungeons to a look in the linen closet, or in the smallest room of the castle to hang with your bare buttocks above the canal.
Theme: Growth and development of forestry in the area Doorwerth
The surroundings of Doorwerth owe much to the forestry from the 19th century, as several owners of Kasteel Doorwerth have been able to gain income from this.
The museum offers a brief history of how this industry has developed over the years.
Theme: Hunting in the Netherlands and the immediate vicinity
The hunt did not stand still in the 700 years that Kasteel lived through. Methods, weapons and regulations have each had their own influence on this. In this story you will be taken through all “hunting stages” that the owners of this castle have experienced.
